One of my favourite parts of my job is hearing how people met and fell in love.
Here is Karen and David’s Love Story:
In the fall and winter of 2010 and into 2011, Karen worked hard at manifesting her dream man. She had reached a point in her life where she was ready to meet “the one” and set upon a quest to attract him to her. Most importantly, he had to be kind and he also had to be respectful, loving, smart, handsome and tall. Every day, Karen would visualize what this special man would look like and be like and she even imagined how she would feel when they met. David, was on a similar path, and had made a new year’s resolution that 2011 would be the year that he would meet his soul mate. Their mutual friend, Susi, felt that they would be very well suited. She played recreational volleyball with Karen and had met David through eHarmony where they quickly discovered that they would make better friends than partners. Susi knew David was a great catch……… for someone else, and she had just the person in mind. She excitedly told Karen about this guy she had met who had thrown her off by wearing hiking boots on their date. Although he obviously required some “work,” she really felt he and Karen would hit it off. Unfortunately, Karen was very busy with her school work and was not in a position to think about dating even though she still imagined her dream man on a daily basis. Three months later, Karen was ready to take the leap into the dating world and she and Susi promptly checked David’s Facebook page to see his relationship status~ still single! On March 26th 2011, with some arranging by Susi, Karen and David met for coffee at Bridgehead. As she anticipated, they were smitten with one another and spent more than two hours talking about all of their outdoor adventures, the places they wanted to visit and of course, their families. Their date ended with a hug and plans to see each other again. Karen remembers feeling giddy and laughing to herself all the way home. She knew she had met someone incredibly special and she was right! David thought Karen was amazing and although excited, he was also very nervous; secretly hoping she felt the same way, too.Several dates followed and by the fourth date, they kissed while on a bike trail overlooking the slalom kayaking course at the Pumphouse near LeBreton Flats.Since then they have enjoyed so many wonderful adventures together from hikes, ski excursions and cabin nights in Gatineau Park, trips west to the Rockies, canoeing and camping trips into Algonquin Park and of course, the adventure of finding their first apartment together and then their first home. There are many memories to reflect upon and so many more yet to come.
